Pope's comment on Mohammad

Pope had recently 'quoted' a 14th century
Byzantine empire's words to stress that
Mohammad and Islam spread their religion by
violence and sword.

This is needless.

World is now looking for a uniting force to
overcome its problems. Pope says he prefers peace.
But, at the same time, he has made those quotes.

What's the need at this hour for quoting a dead and gone
14th century king's words which kindles hatred
towards a religion? We should be working for
peace at the current moment by trying to include
everyone. By making such contraversial and
confrontational quotes, he has made the muslims angry.

His statements are going to divide the people, and
definitely is not going make the christianity a better
religion.

Religion is one of the EVILS that are dividing people
today. Religious leaders need to be careful about their
statements not hurting the sentiments of other faiths.

Quoting from The Hindu newspaper, online edition :

India lodges strong protest with Dutch Govt.
New Delhi, Aug. 25 (PTI): India today lodged a strong protest with the Dutch Government over the arrest and detention of 12 Indians for alleged suspicious behaviour in a flight to Mumbai on Wednesday.

"We have lodged our protest over the way the incident (involving 12 residents of Mumbai) was handled and the treatment given to them," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Navtej Sarna told reporters after the Dutch Ambassador here was summoned by Secretary West to the Foreign Office and conveyed India's protest.

Ambassador Eric Niehe was told that the whole incident was not in conformity with the friendly relations existing between Netherlands and India, Sarna said.

The Ambassador told the Secretary that he would find out all the details from his headquarters and would revert, he said.

He said it took tremendous efforts on the part of the government of India and the Indian mission in Holland to get access to the detained Indians.

Sarna said the fact that the Indians were released without any charges being recorded against them which was symbolic of the work done by the Indian Government and its agencies there.

Sarna said the Indian businessmen were debriefed by the Charge d'affaires during a two-hour session she had with them when consular access was given to them.

The Indians were given assurances of their release and safe return home and that their families would be conveyed this information, he said.

Strong protest to Dutch government ?

May I ask why ? If let's say a plane is originating from an Indian airspace, and
let's say if some people moved suspiciously within the aircraft, do not listen to
instructions from cabin crew, won't you arrest them, handcuff them and enquire
them, especially in these days of heightened security threat ? The dutch officials
have just done their duty of thoroughly enquiring the suspects and then release
them. They have not done anything to affect the cordial relationship between
India and Netherlands. It's not their intention to humiliate the Indian citizens.

Just because the Indian government want to show that they are doing their BEST
to release their citizens, to show the world, and especially to Pakistan's lobby,
that they have done that in spite of the fact that all the arrested Indian citizens
were Muslims, this protest has been lodged.

This is purely manipulative international politics, and nothing to do with
upholding the dignity and safety of Indian citizens.

Move Israel to USA ? Good Idea !

Recently, Iranian President had commented that
Israel should be moved to USA.

I don't agree with the hardline views expressed
by the Iranian President like 'wiping out Israel
from world map' etc. It's inhuman to think like
that in any case.

But, the idea he expressed about moving Israel to
USA is not bad at all !

Think about it, a set of people arguing and fighting
about a small strip of land, which is populous and
short in resources, when there's heaps of land at
some other part of the world still to be explored
and utilized.

Well, who will move ? The willing. Who's willing ?
No one. But, who would be willing ? Practical and
wise ones, if they are provided the opportunity to
move. Not that it's not happening already. Tons
of Jews have already migrated to USA.

The problem though is that this idea has come from a
person who is known for his hardline stance. He's
considered dangerous. He's defiant about nuclear
issues. And that's why, this marvellous idea is
considered as rhetoric.

If two people cannot live peacefully side by side,
its time for one of them to move somewhere else to
live peacefully, given a chance.

Sometimes great ideas have to be taken irrespective of
where it comes from...

India's foreign policy decision on Iran nuclear issue

India has recently joined EU, US and other countries in referring Iran to U.N. Security Council.

India claims that it has India's supreme interest in mind while doing this. It doesnot look so. It looks like India has U.S.'s supreme interest in mind when doing this. And the bargain is for getting the civil nuclear co-operation from U.S. It's very obvious. Recently, Rice had openly asked that India should support U.S. on the Iran issue. Plus, Manishankar Iyer, who is a strong supporter for the Iran pipeline project has been removed from the Indian oil ministry. So, it does look like India is dancing to U.S.'s tunes.

U.S. is known historically for backstabbing. When their job gets done, they won't hesitate a minute to dump India's cause.

It's obvious that U.S. has agreed for the civilnuclear co-operation project, just to keep a check on India nuclear facilities. It's an indirect way of inspecting, monitoring and possibly controlling Indian nuclear interests.

By playing this 'Support us in Iran issue andwe will support you in nuclear project' game, they are achieving two goals, controlling Iran, and then eventually controlling India.

Well, does India have a choice ? Sure, the U.S. nuclear deal with India does not look like going to reap energy benefits to India. Some options are gas pipeline from Iran and getting energy from post-Soviet countries. Windmill energy is all set to grow to India. It can be seen how it can be used more effectively.
